And They're Off...

It is officially a two horse race for County Executive. At noon today (or, more likely, approximately 20 minutes after noon) Trent Kittleman announced her candidacy for County Executive.

UPDATE: Dave's got some good coverage (and photos) over at his site. I hope to be able to make the Wednesday event.

UPDATE2: HoCoMoJo is on the scene and has a nice video of Trent and some of her supporters.

Note: There were additional videos, but I suggest you go to the source to check it out.

  1. Has far more experience than Ulman did 3 years ago and actually stands for things like the goverment staying out of our way instead of raising our children for us. Uphill battle but she deserves our support.

  2. I put up a couple of photos from the event at my site: http://www.hedgehogreport.com/lookingathowardcounty/?p=41.

Somebody also recorded a video of the speech.

  4. I don't relish the idea of a staunch insider being the only challenger, but I'd support the challenger above the incumbent just to make a point.

It would be great to see her do well. It would be even more exciting to see her win.

After the win, however, I don't have high expectations for any insider to suddenly begin representing the real constituency, bucking campaign contributors.

  5. Wow. Very strong start, she'll 'just say no'. Very good. She'd going to be a strong candidate.

  6. No to big government mentality and the old "I'm smarter than you" leadership agenda. No to wasteful spending like Healthy Howard and big raises for all immediate staff to County Executive, no to two full time police escorts, plus a county staff person (ie handler) that probably makes overtime carting the Governor Elect around. Yes saying NO can actually be a virtue.....
