I had an interesting conversation with the members of my RAC committee yesterday. After one of the members said "Why is Ken Ulman putting up so many big signs if he is unopposed?" we went into a discussion of who was running against whom and what big issues are turning out to be the cornerstone of the debate. Proving that you need to step away from a collage to see all of its parts, the members were curious as to who Alan Klein was, and why his supporters disliked Mary Kay so much. They didn't know much about him other than the fact that he was "very angry" about the Downtown Plan. I'm curious if Alan would be comfortable with that image. These were people that read the Flier regularly and don't really have any strong views about Downtown. They plan to vote in the Dem Primary.
And don't worry Trent. Most of them knew that Ken has an opponent.

Continuing their election profiles, the Howard County Times gives a run-down of the Republicans running in Delegate District 13. Ten points to Jeff Robinson for mentioning the pension crisis. I plan to do a set of "endorsements" before the primary on September 14th, despite the fact that I feel egotistical and self-important by suggesting that my "endorsement" means anything. Some people have asked me "who I support" and I find it just as superficial to suggest that I don't support one person over another. Robinson and Priola are locks. I'm still looking into Theus and Gaffney.
Hey HoCo Gubment, next time you buy houses you may want to recall that we still do not have "drop-in" housing for the recently homeless. Just a thought...
Senator Currie is indicted. This has been way too long coming. Also note that this is in Federal Court, which will play out much differently than Sheila Dixon's mess of a trial.
Everyone's twitter and Facebook status was buzzing about the Discovery Channel shooter yesterday. About half contained Shark Week references.
HowChow reviews his own Popsicles...and finds them to be quite tasty.
Only Sarah can cover both her most recent CSA and the availability of Tasers in HoCo in one post. All I know is, thank goodness we can't have wine delivered to our front door. An underager may zap the delivery man with his Ollie purchased taser or throw one of his online purchased throwing stars at him, while high on online purchased salvia. (Don't think I forgot about you direct shipping opponents!)
Wordbones has a very red, hot, and blue evening on Tuesday.
That's all I have time for today. Tomorrow, I am embarrassing myself in the annual firm golf tournament, but should have plenty of time to post in the morning. And please don't say "why HCR, I didn't know you played golf" because I don't and I am very nervous about how horrendous I will play tomorrow. Good thing the firm has a lot of good sports...and sharp golf-ball finding search parties.
