HoCo GOP live blog post 2

I am here with Comptroller candidate William H. Campbell, a HoCo native.

Q: Why are you running?

A: Because Maryland is in worse financial shape than anyone realizes and we need a seasoned financial executive to straighten out the mess. The comptroller is the chief financial officer of the state. I have two decades of experience as a successful chief financial officer at the US dept of vet affairs, the US Coast Guard and Amtrak. They all were financially challenged, like Maryland. I know how fix financial problems.

Q: How do you see yourself campaigning over the next few months,

A: The comptroller represents all citizens of Maryland so I am going to reach out to members of all parties. I want to make this a better place for businesses to start and flourish and create sustainable jobs. We are too dependent of the federal government, with 40% of our state government coming directly or indirectly from the federal government. The impending reduction in federal government in federal contractors will reduce income coming into Maryland by about 9 billion dollars.
