The Howard County Republican Club did a great job providing a run down of all the Central Committee Candidates and their profiles in the most recent newsletter. In light of the fact that many of you have asked about the CC Candidates, I thought I would share those profiles here (hopefully the Club doesn't mind):
David Bates
Having been around politics in Howard County since 1980, when my wife Gail first got involved with the county Republican party, I had a working knowledge of the role of the Central Committee. While working with the Federal Government I could not actively campaign but helped Gail in numerous campaigns behind the scenes. In recent years, I watched the country being led away from my conservative social values and from fiscal responsibility, and spent lots of time yelling at the TV. Gail told me I should quit yelling and do something, since I was now retired and free to openly engage in politics. A few months ago the Central Committee named me to fill a vacancy. My intent is to help get Republican candidates elected and to grow the party in Howard County through work on the Central Committee. The hour is late, but we all can, and should, do something, however small, to help save America for our children and grandchildren.
Diane Butler
I am running for the Howard County Republican Central Committee to continue the extensive work that I have done for and with the party for the past 30 years (20 in California and 10 in Howard County). I have been a concerned, active participant in my communities and the Republican Party, the Republican Club, The Women's Club, and a candidate in the past. Having been a community and civic leader for the past 25 years and a current member of the Central Committee, I know what it takes to elect good candidates. I ask for your vote during the primary to continue the dedicated service that I have been performing as a life long active Republican.

Ellen Harrison
Born in New York City, New York to conservative Republicans who actively marched in the Civil Rights Movement of the sixties, I moved to Maryland right before Middle school. After attending Severna Park High school, I registered to vote as a Republican and attended the University of Maryland, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education. I then married my college sweetheart, Howard "Chip" Harrison, and moved to Howard County, where I became employed by the Howard County Board of Education as a classroom teacher. While working, I enrolled at Loyola College in Baltimore, and earned a Masters Degree, eventually becoming a Reading Specialist for the county. Our family grew to include five wonderful children, Tighe, Lyndsay, Drew, Brent and Hope. Upon the birth of our fifth child I became a stay at home mom. I have served on the Home and School Board of the Trinity School, in Ilchester , Md., where my two oldest children attended, and am an active volunteer at Resurrection St. Paul School where my three younger children are currently attending. I serve on the Executive Board of Forest Hill Swim and Tennis Club as secretary where our family has spent many wonderful summers. Having served the citizens of Howard County for the past 21 years as a community volunteer, I humbly ask for your support in running for the Republican Central Committee.
Laura Kittleman
I grew up in Howard County, and have been involved in politics my entire life. I am dedicated to the preservation of individual rights and freedoms. I currently own a real estate practice in Howard County, and thus have first-hand experience in job creation and solid ideas for how to stimulate business growth and job creation, the keys to our continued prosperity as a county, state, and Nation.
My dad, Senator Robert H. Kittleman, worked tirelessly to make the place he loved even better. His involvement in the civil rights movement inspired me and showed me firsthand the value of passion and commitment to others - and of hard work. After knocking on thousands of doors, Bob Kittleman, in 1982, became the first Republican elected to the Maryland House of Delegates from Howard County in over sixty years. That election spurred the growth of the Republican Party in Howard County. My brother, Allan, carries on the proud family tradition as Minority Leader in the State Senate. I am excited and eager to join the other hard working and dedicated members of the Central Committee to support our Republican candidates and build a true two-party system in Maryland. I hope I can count on your vote in the Republican primary.
David Myers
My name is Dave Myers, I have been active in the party since 2005 working for the following campaigns: Merdon for County Executive, Kittleman for Senate, McCain for President, The Maryland Senate GOP Slate, Bob Ehrlich for Maryland, and many others. My goal is to grow our party and bring a renewed focus on the youth in our county and state. As a member of the Central Committee, I have first hand experience in fundraising, campaign organization, voter outreach, and precinct organization. I was President of the Centennial High Republicans and went on to become President of the Howard County Young Republicans. I was a page for the House of Delegates and a Session Aide for Senator Allan Kittleman. I hope I can count on your vote in the Republican Primary in September.

If you've ever read my stuff you know where I stand. I'm conservative, I'm passionate and I'm worried for the future, as you should be too. If you elect me to the Central Committee I promise to do the right things and say the right things and stand up for the right people, and that's all there is to it.
